Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya was under renovation for a while so it might just be the hotel you remember but have not visited in a while. Located on Wong Amat Beach this distinctive resort was designed around a unique “Lost World” theme. Think Indiana Jones brought to life with jungle-inspired architecture, waterfalls, lush tropical landscapes and swaying rope bridges. It is, as you would imagine, especially popular with families also due to its extensive water park, featuring a lazy river, waterslides, and dedicated children’s play zones.

Recently, Discover Pattaya were invited to enjoy one of the resort’s standout offerings, the Saturday Fire and Ice Beach Barbecue featuring an extensive buffet served right by the sea. With our feet in the sand, chilled glasses of wine in hand, charming live music and a refreshing sea breeze it was a relaxed setting we could have happily spent the whole evening in – even after the last bite and there were certainly many to choose from. Daily catch seafood from the local Naklua market including freshly grilled river prawns, crab and rock lobster and a wonderful array of sushi and sashimi.

For the meat lovers, sausages, chicken and brisket from a traditional Argentinian rotisserie (to give that special flavour) were served on skewers brought directly to the table.

At the buffet tables I was delighted to see a first class cheese selection beautifully displayed alongside salads, dips and freshly made Somtam. The kids were enjoying pizzas fresh from the pizza oven and a pasta station offering their own choice of sauces to be prepared to order plus of course an amazing selection of desserts, fruit and ice cream. The staff here are also wonderful with the kids waving, high fiving and smiling as they clear the plates and make sure everyone is having a good time and has everything they need.

In addition to all the great food and warm hospitality, true to its name, the “Fire” element of the event delivered a thrilling spectacle. A daring fire performer captivated the audience with his amazing show – don’t try this at home kids! The energetic fire eater left guests amazed and on their feet applauding with antics. This added spectacle added to the sense of being on an island rather than in the hustle and bustle of Pattaya making for a truly memorable night out.
