A Healthy Oasis in Pattaya

Do you want to feel better, have more energy, and live longer? Engaging in regular physical activity can do all of these things, and Kombat Group is the local place to do it. Regardless of your age, sex, skill level, or physical condition this gym has something for everybody with courses in Muay Thai, Western Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga, and Tactical Fitness amongst others. Kombat Group opened in 2005 and has steadily improved its martial arts courses to put more focus on weight loss and detoxing the body’s systems naturally. This expansion prompted the gym to move from the bustling city to the outskirts of Pattaya to a facility with a better atmosphere where everyone can focus on his or her personal goals. Despite its recent growth, Kombat Group is still able to offer the very thing that makes it unique among other gyms--a flexible, personalized approach to each individual’s fitness needs.
The primary courses at Kombat Group are Muay Thai and Western Boxing which both have two sessions per day, morning and afternoon, to accommodate various schedules. Whereas Western Boxing involves throwing combinations of fists, Muay Thai training allows for a total body workout as the sport uses fists, elbows, knees, shins, and feet to deliver powerful strikes. All courses are taught by dedicated champions including Christian Daghio who is a six-time Muay Thai champion and two-time belt winner in Western Boxing. Each trainer will push you until you achieve your very best.
Kombat Group offers several other courses as well, all which fuse Thai methodology with a western approach to yield optimal performance and results. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) combines a variety of close combat techniques to create a highly effective and versatile martial art that is growing in popularity around the world. Kombat Group has a full-size MMA cage and courses are taught by highly skilled and experienced instructors who are professional MMA fighters.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art which favors skill over size making it suitable for anyone. Students learn proper techniques and maneuvers to gain a physical advantage during sport or self-defense. BJJ increases endurance, flexibility, and coordination while promoting self-defense without the practice of violence. This course is taught by an instructor with a purple belt in Jiu Jitsu.
Another great course for learning self-defense is Krav Maga, an Israeli system that combines martial arts techniques with realistic fight scenarios. Krav Maga teaches you how to efficiently defend yourself from a variety of real-life physical attacks whether an assailant is using bare hands, a knife, broken bottle, or gun. Also this year Kombat Group developed a special Women’s Self-Defense course that empowers women to defend themselves against the most common types of attacks by using a combination of Muay Thai, Krav Maga and BJJ/grappling techniques. Not only does it teach a woman how to identify and effectively prevent dangerous situations, but if there comes a time when an attack is unavoidable then the woman knows that she is well prepared. Regular training helps to avoid the shock and panic that typically occur during an attack and allow a woman to skillfully use her body against an attacker.
Self-defense techniques are more effective when the body is kept in good condition, and Kombat Group has several courses to improve overall fitness through strength and endurance training. The Functional Training course uses high-intensity interval training (HIIT) for cardiovascular exercise. HIIT is a very popular method used to build muscle and burn fat by alternating short bursts of intense exercise with brief, less-intense recovery periods. Though challenging, HIIT is extremely efficient and burns more calories than aerobic activities done for double or even triple the amount of time. These shorter workouts are ideal for people with busy schedules. There is also a Tactical Fitness course which incorporates HIIT, but does so with functional athletic movements like lifts, carries, crawls, and runs that carry over to real-life scenarios. Tactical fitness is the type of training often used by military and police, but it can be beneficial for anyone by improving strength, muscle stamina, speed, endurance, flexibility, and analytical thinking.
Because gym staff understand the importance of regular physical activity throughout the lifespan they have recently increased course offerings for children. Children can train in Muay Thai with one course offered for children ages 6 to 9 and another course for children ages 10 to 12. Parents can also choose to enroll their child(en in BJJ for Kids which is held on Saturdays. Kombat Group recently participated in Jesters Fair, a local charity fair for children, on September 4th to introduce Muay Thai and BJJ techniques to a young audience. They held a showcase on stage demonstrating the strength, skill, and fun that can be attained with consistent training.
In this digital age parents are recognizing the necessity for children to disconnect from phones, games, and gadgets to be physically active. However, adults can benefit from disconnecting as well. Knowing how stressful life in Pattaya can be, Kombat Group offers local residents an opportunity for a weekend of full-immersion in the weight loss and detox program which includes accommodations, training in all fitness and martial arts disciplines offered, and three meals per day. The meals are delicious and balanced to provide maximum nutrition based on the fitness program and dietary needs of each individual. Unlike other gyms, Kombat Group is actually a resort with amenities such as a private swimming pool, garden, and on-site restaurant. Soon it will open a sauna and massage center to improve athletic performance and muscle recovery. You can truly recharge your mind and spirit as well as your body. Kombat Group is currently offering local Pattaya residents a special deal for to participate in the weekend program at a discounted rate.
