FIRE AND STONE PIZZERIA

It is always pleasing to see a restaurant doing well in Pattaya - especially after the sorry state of business for most during the recent low season . Fire and Stone Pizzeria was certainly doing well when we paid them a visit at 6 pm on a Tuesday evening. The place was almost full with a mixture of English, Russian and Italian customers - always a good sign in a Pizzeria! Also a motorbike delivery messenger made several stops during our time there as they also cater for take away orders.

Of course their open air entrance is a great idea because the enticing smell draws people in as they stroll up Pattaya Klang from Pattaya Beach Road and of course at this time of year it was pleasantly cool. This would be a great place to just drop in for a coffee or gelato - but we were there for the Pizza !

Firstly we were presented with a beautiful Greek Salad crunchy and fresh with plenty of feta cheese and no “bitter leaves” in the lettuce selection (one of my pet hates in a salad). Also good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table. Accompanied by a good glass of red in a decent sized glass, although they also have a full selection of beers and soft drinks. Then the “Crudo Pizza” served exactly as a pizza with parma ham should be and as the name suggests. I cannot stand it when restaurants ruin perfectly good Parma Ham by cooking it - but none of that here. Also the base was flavoursome, crunchy but not too thin or dry.

Our second choice was the Four cheese pizza encompassing Mozzarella, Parmesan, Gorgonzola and Emmental cheese. It is possible to order extra toppings at around 50 baht but we were just happy to have what to my mind is an essential condiment for this pizza - Chilli Oil !

The Pizzas are priced from 200 baht very reasonable for ones of this quality and there is also a selection of Mains, Thai Foods and pasta dishes from which we chose the Penne with Pesto accompanied with extra Parmesan cheese. This was brought to the table by a member of the friendly and courteous staff. The manager and his two waitresses deserve a special mention for carrying out great service whilst busy There are certainly a few places around town that could learn this lesson whilst dealing with the increase in customers during high season!
