Themed Hotels in Pattaya

By Kevin Cain

It is almost impossible to gauge just how many actual hotels there are in Pattaya, trying to research the subject I came across one website that stated; 594 hotels for under 500 baht a night! If they were telling the truth then that must put the actual hotel numbers well into the four figure bracket. And that was not including guesthouses and other such accommodation.

So this month here at The Pattaya Trader we thought we would focus on Themed Hotels and to see what was on offer in Pattaya City.

Wave

A boutique style hotel with a Miami theme based right on Beach Road in central Pattaya. It replicates the chic laid back feeling of South Beach Miami adorned with art deco architecture and buildings.Designed with playful intent, the four storey building is a striking pastel by day and a vibrant neon by night. The hotel is as glizzy as Liberace and just as unashamedly flashy and flirty.

It is hard to miss Wave Hotel if you are taking a stroll along Beach Road, as it has an iconic 1940’s Cadillac in hot pink livery parked outside. All the public and private spaces have cutting edge design and the Wave has all the comfort you could possibly need.

Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort

First opened in 2009, with a spectacular Lost World concept, the Centara Grand Mirage on Wong Amat Beach in North Pattaya was launched with a fantastic Indiana Jones party.

It is a 5-star resort hotel with its own jungle, waterpark and many other featured attractions. The design is stunning with two 18 storey towers connected by stupendous sky bridges.

The 555 room hotel has direct access to the beach, and the themed restaurants of Flame, Aqua and Ginger & Lime cater for just about every cuisine known to man.Centara is also a byword for luxury accommodation in Thailand and the Grand Mirage Beach Resort does not let the brand down one iota.

The Penthouse

In acknowledging Pattaya’s rather bawdy reputation, The Penthouse is one of the City’s more adult themed hotels. The Penthouse is kinky and erotic, it’s a sexual playground for lovers of fun, play and carnal pleasure. The hotel opens its doors to just about everybody from couples, swingers, straight, gay and everything in between.

The Penthouse boasts a selection of rooms furnished with what is probably best described as “sexy fixtures and fittings”, which include every manner of appliance to make your stay as memorable as possible. There are “play showers”, wall and ceiling mirrors, dance poles, low seductive lighting, the occasional “play swing”, adult movie channels and even more.

The location is in notorious Pattayaland Soi 2, which is only a couple of minutes stroll to Beach Road and Walking Street.

The Rabbit Resort

Tucked away on bohemian Dongtan Beach in Jomtien is the wonderful Rabbit Resort, probably the last example of a traditional beach-house type of resort in Pattaya. The houses having been built in enchanted gardens set in woodland; with birds, wildlife, flowers, trees and everything that nature has in abundance. The ten rai of land together with the fairly low density of accommodation instill an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The wooden bungalows are all individually designed and there is even an adult-only pool for those who like peace and quiet. Stepping out of the resort you are virtually on the sand, with only the private access road separating you from the waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

Hard Rock Hotel

A worldwide name synonymous with Rock Music, the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya has a superb setting, situated proudly on Beach Road. Recently renovated, the Hard Rock has turned the music back up and is very much open for business, delivering its special brand of stylish rock “n” roll accommodation and leisure facilities.

The familiar theme of youthful energy, music, passion for life and entertainment is back in style with a long list of exciting amenities. The bars, restaurants, lounges are all updated and now are augmented with Lil’ Rock Club for kids, Tabu Club for teens and families, a Rock Spa and also Rock Shops. The hotel also features 323 rooms and suites along with the exceptional Rock Star suites, family rooms, city or sea views. If you like your stay to have action and variety then this hotel will be ideally suited.

Birds and Bees Resort

in a tropical rainforest featuring spectacular views. It is situated on reclusive Hu-Kwang Bay and the tranquil environment makes for a perfect hideaway for couples and families alike.

The resort comprises 54 individually designed rooms and suites, set in lush tropical gardens abundant in orchids and other flora. There are private paths (capitalist walk, communist walk, rainforest walk) that weave their way over streams, around ponds, through mountain mists and pass the bunny rabbit pen and other resident fauna. There is even a mini-farm behind the resort, where different agricultural organic techniques are pioneered and demonstrated to visitors. Two of the rather surprising elements of the farm are the high-society chickens that are tuned into classical music and also the spectacular man-made rainbow, which is created daily between 8-9am and 4:30-5pm.

The selection of Themed Hotels gathered here are just a peek into what is on offer in Pattaya today. The city boasts world class hotels as well as more affordable accommodation, just about every theme and idea being available for the paying guest.
