Pattaya Hotels are All About Business
by Brian S.
Over the years, Pattaya Beach has earned a well-deserved reputation as being a world class “party town”. These days, however, “Fun Town” is rapidly becoming all about business. Whether the business pertains to import and export, entertainment, manufacturing, the service industry, textiles or anything that is agricultural in nature, it all must be conducted somewhere. Depending on the scale, the majority of the business that takes place within the city is performed on the premises of the Thai host, inside their executive offices, showrooms, factories and boardrooms. When the scale of that business becomes too much or overwhelms the above-mentioned facilities, a number of Pattaya’s better hotels have stepped up to fill the void, providing just about every type of conference and meeting venue imaginable.
A hotel, as we all know, is an establishment that provides lodging on a short-term basis. The amenities of any given hotel may range from budget digs that contain a humble bed and wardrobe to a multi-room luxurious suite or penthouse larger than the average family home. The better hotels will feature such amenities as swimming pools, spas, child care, limousine service, gourmet restaurants, designer boutiques, gyms and, of course, a business centre and conference facilities. With somewhere between three and four hundred hotels scattered across the greater Pattaya area, any business, company or corporation is sure to find the one hotel that best meets its particular needs.
Despite the large number of hotels in Pattaya, it should be noted that not every hotel has the ability to adequately manage the varying needs of a handful of businessmen, not to mention a major corporate conference. Due to the fact that Pattaya’s hotel operations vary in size, function and cost, the needs of modern day commerce can best be met by hotels of the following class:
Upscale Hotel: A hotel that offers high-end luxury amenities and personalised or professional services. Most upscale hotels have a rating of, depending on the country, four or five diamonds or stars.
Full Service Hotel: A hotel that offers a full range of services, but on a less opulent scale. The star or diamond rating on this class of hotel can range between three and four.
Some important things that need to be considered before determining if a hotel’s meeting/conference facilities are suitable for your company, business or corporation are:
Is the venue a good fit for the company’s corporate image?
Is the location of the venue easily accessible for all of the attendees?
Is the venue available on the date(s) required?
Will the venue be flexible if the scheduled date must be changed?
Are the meeting rooms large enough to comfortably accommodate your needs?
Does the venue offer a variety of room sizes, such as a large auditorium, mid-size conference room, theatre, classroom or small individual meeting rooms?
Does the cost include such things as WiFi internet access, projection equipment or complimentary refreshments?
Is the venue willing to work with you to put together a comprehensive package that covers all your requirements?
Are the venue’s staff bi- or multilingual?
Is the venue handicap accessible?
The following is a brief overview of some of Pattaya’s top hotels and the range of meeting and conference facilities each has to offer:
Montien Hotel, Pattaya
Centrally located, right in the heart of Pattaya City, the Montien Hotel—with 300 guest rooms, sea views, a spacious tropical garden and numerous amenities associated with high-end hotels—makes it an ideal choice for any corporate meeting. At the Montien, you can choose from a 73-square-metre individual meeting room, all the way up to a 408-square-metre ballroom with the ability to be partitioned off into three separate rooms. Whether you need a boardroom, classroom, theatre, meeting room, reception room or banquet room, the Montien’s English-, Japanese- and Thai-speaking staff will graciously accommodate all of your business needs.
Amari Ocean Hotel
(Formerly the Amari Orchid) Situated practically right on top of Pattaya Beach, up at the northern and more peaceful end of the city, this 20-storey monolith has nearly 300 rooms with unparalleled views of Pattaya Bay. What could be better than starting a long day of business meetings with a brilliant equatorial sunrise and, even better, ending it with a spectacular tropical sunset? The Amari offers a complete range of indoor and outdoor spaces capable of handling up to 800 persons. It also offers a full range of audio-visual equipment, a catering service and just about just anything else that a company, business or corporation might need to make their event a huge success.
(Formerly the Siam Bayview Hotel) In Central Pattaya, just metres from the ocean and near to CentralFestival, Pattaya’s newest and most fashionable shopping mall, the 260 guest rooms that comprise The Bayview could not be in a better locale. With three meeting rooms that can accommodate anywhere from 10 to 120 guests each and a banquet room that will easily hold three hundred or so individuals, this venue is perfect for business retreats, meetings, seminars and corporate events. If that’s not enough, the Bayview can boast having every type of up-to-the-minute conference technology to ensure that any presentation is glitch-free.
Asia Pattaya Hotel
A short three kilometres south of Pattaya City, set on 22 acres of palm-fringed gardens, high on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of Thailand is the Asia Pattaya Hotel. With over 300 guest rooms; a swimming pool; tennis court; snooker room; a private nine-hole, three-par golf course and a discotheque, there is no shortage of ways to relax after a full day of business meetings and seminars. With a total of five meeting and banquet rooms that can handle anywhere from as little as 50 to as many as 800 guests to choose from, the Asia Pacific Hotel is an excellent venue where business can be combined with pleasure.
